Thomas Hugh Martin attended Rutgers University where he graduated in 1997 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. During his college years, he achieved the following accomplishments:
His affiliations at Rutgers include being a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha.
He also earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Criminal Justice from Bergen Community College. Thomas completed his political internship for this program with Chief Robert Re of the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy in Mahwah, NJ.
He attended the Seton Hall University School of Law on a scholarship after graduating from Rutgers University with Phi Beta Kappa and with High Honors. During his time in law school, he became a member of the juvenile justice clinic, and he represented juveniles in the Superior Court of New Jersey-Essex County Courthouse. Thomas graduated from law school in 2001.
Thomas was accepted for a one-year judicial clerkship by the Hon. Joseph P. Quinn, Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division. Judge Quinn was assigned to the Civil Division, where he presided over civil trials. These include personal injury actions arising out of automobile accidents, product liability accidents, and slip and fall injuries.
Thomas entered into private practice as an attorney with Schibell & Mennie, LLC in Ocean, NJ after completing his clerkship in 2002. He handled civil cases in the Superior Court, Municipal Court matters, and Appellate Division work.
In 2004, he went to work with Lynch Teitelbaum & Geldhauser LLC in East Brunswick, NJ. His practice in this law firm consisted of criminal trial work and municipal matters. These include DWI offenses and drug possession cases. He also was involved in workers’ compensation and civil litigations.
